THE LAWFUL & THE UNLAWFUL IN ISLAM
This course introduces students to the foundational principles of what is halal (permissible) and haram (forbidden) in Islam.
Students will examine how Islamic law defines moral and legal boundaries, and how these rulings nurture purity, justice, and spiritual discipline.
Students will study foundational proofs from the Qur’an, Sunnah, and classical texts learning how Islamic law classifies human actions and preserves balance between worship, daily life, and spiritual well-being.
Through practical examples and classical scholarship, the course cultivates clarity, conscience, and respect for divine limits (Hudud Allah).
Course Objectives:
• Recognize the wisdom behind divine prohibitions and permissions.
• Apply principles of halal and haram to modern contexts with mindfulness
• The role of Taqwa (God-Consciousness) in everyday decision making.
• Practical examples to guide students to apply these principles with balance and understanding in their daily lives.
