Aqidah is the very cornerstone of the Sacred Sciences - the Science of belief.

Often described as Islamic theology, it is a subject that fundamentally deals with all that a Muslim confirms with their minds, believes with their hearts, and surrenders to with their limbs.

Quranic verses and Prophetic statements provide us with the 6 articles of faith: Belief in God, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Divine Destiny. It is the knowledge of these 6 articles which underpins the structure of this course.

Most importantly, this course allows us to understand what it really means to be Muslim and connects us to a community that has existed for over 1400 years.

Tafsir is the study of the meanings of the Quran - a Science which is integral to every field of Islamic knowledge.

The course begins with an introduction to the history of Tafsir and its development in the age of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We then consider the contributions of succeeding generations and the meticulous care provided by so many Muslims to preserve the Quran and to ensure the integrity of every passage.

This course will focus on Surat Al Fatiha, and thereafter Juzu 'Amma, as the most frequently read and recited Chapters of the Quran; ensuring student understanding of Quranic content they will likely engage with day in and day out.

The Fiqh course covers the history and development of Islamic law and jurisprudence in the early generations of Islam. The evolution of the Madhab system, the sources of Law, and the contributions of outstanding scholars provides an introduction to the course.

The codification of laws and the formation of a comprehensive methodology provides a strong appreciation for the brilliant foundations of Islamic Law.

Islamic jurisprudence deals with the rites and rituals of every day practice, the performance of acts of worship, and the general legislative structures of Islam. Particularly dealt with are the topics of Tahara/Purity, Menstruation, Salaat, Zakaat, Fasting, and related Fiqh matters.

This course encompasses essential knowledge for every practicing Muslim.

Seerah is the profoundly moving story of the greatest person to ever live - the last and most beloved Messenger of God, Muhammad b Abdullah ﷺ.

Discover the origins of Mecca, Arabia at the advent of Islam, the ancestry of the Prophet ﷺ, the introduction of idolatry, the Abrahamic legacy, and the parents of the Prophet ﷺ.

A sequential telling of this story means that we will then cover the birth of the Prophet ﷺ, and the first 40 years of his life, including marriage and family. At age 40, we enter Hira with the Prophet ﷺ to discover the impact of first revelation and witness the preaching of the first messages. As the first community develops, we share the pain of Bilal, the change of Omar, the sacrifice of Sumeyyah, the steadfastness of Ali, and the Sidq of Abu Bakr.

As the mission of the Prophet, ﷺ in Mecca draws to a close and he takes to the road for the Hijra, we share the joy of Medina at his arrival, and the beginning of a whole new phase in the formative years of Islam.

The Medina period brings challenge and tribulation, but also triumph, and finally, sweeping success.  From the highs of the Conquest of Mecca and the Farewell sermon, we plummet to the darkest days in the history of Medina.....the illness and death of the Prophet ﷺ. A low from which it seemed, to those who endured it, impossible to rise again. Yet, in the aftermath of this calamitous event, and under the capable leadership of the rightly guided Caliphs, the light and legacy of the Prophet ﷺ, shines brightly, and by that light, generations of Muslims have found their way.

We love the story, but more importantly, it is the lessons embedded in these events that allow us to walk in the footsteps of the Prophet .

Sciences of the Quran is an integral subject connecting the student to Divine revelation and to the primary text of Islam.

This course will explore the descent of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and its reception among the first community. The recitation, memorization, explanation, recording, application and preservation of Quranic content at first instance will all be covered.

The completion of the Prophet's ﷺ duty in delivery of the Quran, the impact of his death, and the extraordinary contribution of succeeding generations will be canvassed.

Apart from the history of the Quran and its compilation, students will also receive an introduction to the diverse range of subjects which are essential to the understanding of the Quran, such as: causes of revelation, stages of revelation, process of revelation, and the miracles of the Quran.

Tarbeyah is a traditional Islamic science with a rich and diverse history of practice throughout the Muslim world. This is a subject that will take the student on an in depth exploration of the inner dimensions of the self, the capacity for development and discipline, the importance of self awareness, and most importantly, God Consciousness.

Students will discover the elements of humanity, the components of every individual, the virtues and vices of each, motivators for conduct, drivers of impulse and reaction, influences on decision making, recognition of spiritual state, the path to self improvement, the obstacles to elevation, and the best possible means of establishing a connection to your Creator.

This is an uplifting subject with great popularity and practical effect among students.

All material is guided by Quranic content, and the most perfect model of character and discipline - our beloved Prophet .

The Prophetic Tradition (Hadith) is one of the major primary sources of Islam, second only to the Qur'an in significance. Hadith traditions are at the very bedrock of Islamic Law and practice, and therefore an essential science in the sacred study of Islam.

This course introduces the student to an immense and incredibly valuable body of literature, and explores its transmission and compilation throughout history. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the rules regulating Hadith classification, and will learn to identify differences between the various categories of Hadith.

Ultimately, this is a course that will allow greater appreciation for the brilliance of Prophetic messaging, the development of Islam traditions, and the firm foundations upon which Islamic rites rest.

Sharh al Hadith provides commentary on one of the most famous and foundational texts of Hadith literature - the 40 Hadith of Imam Nawawi.

The compiler is one of the luminaries of Islamic scholarship and has collected in this text the top 40 (or 42) statements of the Prophet ﷺ that are necessary for every Muslim to know.

Each of the Prophetic statements represents a mastery of speech and a deep well of wisdom. Each statement is a testament to prophethood and continues to be applicable in so many spheres of Islamic life.

To complete the text is to feel enriched by revelation, moved by prophetic contact, and inspired to act accordingly.

This course is designed for those who have very little knowledge of the Sciences of Islam and are seeking an introduction to its wonders. This is Shariah simplified for those who need an entry level canvasing of the key topics of the Sacred Sciences.
