Tafsir is the study of the meanings of the Quran - a Science which is integral to every field of Islamic knowledge.
The course begins with an introduction to the history of Tafsir and its development in the age of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. We then consider the contributions of succeeding generations and the meticulous care provided by so many Muslims to preserve the Quran and to ensure the integrity of every passage.
This course will focus on Surat Al Fatiha, and thereafter Juzu 'Amma, as the most frequently read and recited Chapters of the Quran; ensuring student understanding of Quranic content they will likely engage with day in and day out.
